A beautiful long arm lobster fossil known as Mecochirus Longimanu from Solnhofen Limestone, Eichstatt, Germany "Plattenkalk” Malm Zeta 2, Eichstatt, Germany
This species of the lobster family has an elongated first pair of legs that were used for walking as well as defense and feeding. This characterizes the species and is where the name logimmanu is derived meaning long arm. It was found on a beautiful multi colored limestone slab making for an excellent visually appealing display.
This fossil comes from the famous Solnhofen lithographic limestone Lagerstätte of Germany. They are known for finding world class fossils with excellent preservation and detail. This speciminen is no exception.
Fossil plate measures 7.75" wide by 8" high with the lobster being almost 5" overall.
